You should be good to go. Coopers as a breed tend to shoot, though in my experience expensive rather heavy rifles better shoot or what's the good of them? I only have two Coopers.
The 270 Weatherby cartridge itself is nothing to be sneezed at; when we were all stroking a boner over STWs 30 years ago with light bullets and MPBR with light bullets it required a bit of willful blindness to not see that Roy was doing it in the 40s.
If you want to go to what most people would consider extreme long range with a 'Bee you may have a bit of an issue with high BC bullets and a long throat, but that's sort of a specialty application. I had a lot of fun scratching down goats by the 100s in NZ out to 800, but you might have to pick your bullet carefully for your own rifle for that. Or maybe it doesn't apply at all for your uses.

It will be more than enough for anything you decide to hunt on QCI.

Cons: Ammo isn't cheap. Not the best selection of heavy bullets in .277".

Pros: kills like lightning. Laser beam trajectory. Premium bullet options are good. Factory ammo is good. 9-twist will stabilize the sleekest 150's out there. Coopers are sweet. Reloading is fun.

Pros outweigh the cons significantly here!

Good buy. Thanks to the 6.8 western heavier. 277 bullets are making their way to the market.

I have owned several
A Lazermark and a Remington custom. It was speced for Berger 170 eol
And shot amazing. The Lazermark shot very good as well.
It makes a normal 270 look dumpy in the fps game.
Coopers are fantastic though heavy.
My wife shoots a beautiful 52 in 280ai
I had the first 35 whelen they ever made.

right on guys thanks for the replies. I got 8 boxes of Ammo with it weatherby factory. 150 gr accubonds and 140 partitions or the other way around. So i have some brass there anyway and will load for it . Should be fun .

Is it a build or an XTR Sporter? I tried to con my dad into buying me one in .270 Wby before I could legally purchase one of my own. Probably the most fondled rifle of mine back when SIR was still a place.

The 270 Wby is a great cartridge! Mild mannered, flat and accurate!
90 Sierra HP's are lazer flat! And explosive on small game!
100 gr ammo wreaks havoc on coyotes...a little hard on deer meat.
130's and 150's work great on big game;I preferred the 140 gr AB's.
Coopers are very nice rifles...haven't had the pleasure of owning one though...haven't seen too many lefties when I've had the funds to buy one, or ended up building something else. Some of the prettiest wood I have seen on production rifles...love the New Zealand walnut I've seen on the custom classics!
