270 win 130 vs 150 grn give me your load

130 grain bullets, 60 grains of Norma 205 (same as MRP,) gave 3078 fps in my 270.
For 150 grain bullets, 58 grains of N205.
This is right out of the Norma books, but do the usual build up to the loads in your rifle.

Nosler max is 55 grains, but the groups didn't shrink until I hit 58. No excess pressure signs from a couple M70 winchesters.

I am really starting to note newer books recording much lower "max loads" than older books. Lawsuit protection? I saw/noticed stretched primer pockets at 59+ grains of 4831 and am probably getting less use out of my brass but nothing I didn't feel fearful of with 58 grains.

I have a 270 that likes Federal blue box 150's.

Can not go wrong there...
Easy to find inexpensive to purchase and same results time after time if the shooter does his/her part.
But, if you must IMR 4350 , Sierra Game Kings and Federal Primers , you will have to do the math on COL and powder charge, but the Remington 270 Mountain Rifle of 1989 Vintage like to put them all close together at 200 yrds...
But, sadly I no longer own said gun and my buddy now uses it for Moose with the blue box ammo from Federal.
Go better than 130 grn for anything larger than a blk tail is my advice..well my opinion actually...

When my cabinet contained a 270 I was also loading for a friend who had used 160 grain bullets for years.
Nosler gave the most accurate load for a 150 grain bullet as 52.0 grains of H4350. This load produced under 2" groups from the get-go from my Remington 700 Classic with a 22" barrel.
My friend's rifle ( a Pre-64 model 70) was over two inches with that load.

I did not think a 150gr would get over 3000. What bullet are you using? Is it accurate? 7828 usually is easy to find.

Yes, RL26 will do it with 150 Partitions and do it within book loads. I am something like 0.5gr under max and getting 2970fps out of a 22" barrel. Alliant says 60.8gr will give 3022 fps. My loads were measured with an Oehler 35P.

The max load I had was listed as max because it's compressed. However it wasn't the case in my brass... No, I wasn't using IMR 7828 SSC.
