270 win. 130g Core Lokt, how do they work on game

for up to deer sized game they work fine an generally make big holes on the other side leaving a big blood trail if it did not drt.

they open up a bit an dont hold much weight, in sayin that ive shot a sambar doe once an recovered the projectile which looked exactly like the corelokt ads we have in our magazines down here... one of the worlds most deadliest mushrooms.

Fine choice..
Cheers

Post#20 kinda says it all!!!! Respectfully. Jim

Jim,

that may be right but the last black bear my wife had to shoot at a distance between 5 to 10 meters the shoulders and the back straps were destroyed by her two shots of a .270 150 grains core lokt and i dont even imagine the result with a 130 grains going faster ....

that s my experience.

Placement of bullet is kinda like buying Real Estate.....LOCATION. LOCATION. LOCATION!!!! Respectfully Jim

a bullet of weak construction will make some schrapnels nothing to do with the case i was talking but if you think that with a good location a 130grains core lokt shot at 5 meters will fit the bill i disagree ...because i ve seen with my eyes ...

I recently used .270win hornady sst 130gr on my first black bear hunt. i made a perfect shot and it ran 30ft or so and dropped. i would suggest and will recommend to my buddies to use Hornady whatever grain they want.

the entery hole was the size of the bullet and the exit was just as big, no meat damaged and only broke 3 ribs

I've shot truckloads of moose over the years with nothing more than a Hornady 130gr SP and 57gr/IMR 4831.................elk,bear,deer,antelope.ETC...........since then Hornady has changed the jackets and won't confirm it.Several bullet blowups in .270/ 9.3x62 then a failure to expand with a 180gr at 3000fps from a .308NM.....Switched to Partitions, old style silvertips and CIL CPE when I can find them at gun shows........Harold

My Dad has taken 4 moose at various distance with .270

Usually gets a through-and-through, always gets the good ol' BANG-FLOP.

Anyone says .270 isn't enough gun for Canada, that's bull-chit.

Your 270, with 130gr CoreLokts will be just fine for deer, and bear....Don't let anyone tell you any different!

:agree: I've used Corelokts in my .270 for years and never had a single problem with them. It kills just as well as any other bullet IMO. Ive used it on everything from gophers to moose.

I shot this elk with a .270 winchester and 130 Grain federal fusions.... The first shot killed it, but it didnt know it yet. Since it was still standing...... I dumped 3 more rounds into it. Still standing dead....... I grabbed a Speer Trophy Bonded Bear claw round out of my pocket and it tipped over.

Reason for shooting until it fell........ It was an area where no motorized vehicles were allowed and I didnt want it making it into the bush lol First shot was all that was needed.

I believe the Fusion loading is a Premium load?
quite a difference in standard Corelokt cup & cores, and a fusion premium projectile.

Nice huntin though , evious of you're quarry!

I had 6 boxes of ammo in my 30.06 last week in BC. I had Winchester 180 grain, and Remington CoreLokt 180 grain.... Needless to say, the CoreLokt will only come out at hunting time, and my buddy will probably never use them again hahaha. The kick like nothing I have ever seen! The Winchester had about 2/3rds less kick than the Remington, but they are a fun powerful round. I was hurting a bit after 10 rounds, and my buddy gave up after 3 of the CoreLokt rounds, and 2 of the Winchester rounds lol.
