I staring to reload for my 270, I will mostly be using 130gr nolser partitions or speer grandsalm. My 22-250 likes IMR 4064, with 70gr speer bullets, would like to find one powder that I can use for both cal. I will be using 52gr bullets in my 22-250, I used the 70gr for my deer load, now that I have a 270, that will be my deer rifle and the 22-250 will be used on coyotes

What powder?

It is not a good idea to try and use one powder for two calibres as different as a 270 and a 22-250. H4831 powder is ideal for the 270, with either 130 grain 150 grain bullets, but I imagine it would be too slow burning for a 22-250.

IMR4064 is given for the accuracy load for a .270, 130 grain jacketed bullet and for a 53 and 55 grain jacketed bullet in the .22-250 in my old Lyman manual.

H-4350 shoots great in my 270 and IMR 4895 or varget for my 22-250s..

Could never get H 380 to shoot as good in my 22-250s but i have seen some 22-250s do very vell with 380.

try IMR 4007ssc, it should be a good choice (slower burning than 4064/Varget/RL15 & Faster burning than 4350)

In my 22-250 I am running 34gr Varget, 40gr Nosler BT's, CCI 200 large rifle primers wrapped in Norma Brass. Very accurate load in my rifle @ 100-300m

(Styer SSG p69)

70gr speer bullets on top of 33.5grs of 4064 chorny at 3300fps with 1.5 groups at 150yds, with 52 gr nosler soild base sp 35.5 of 4064 chorny at 3650fps with .5 groups at 150yds, I am going to try it on my 270 the only powder i have used is 4064 or 3031

Use the 4064 in the 22/250 and buy some 4831 or 4350 for the 270.

Don't be cheeeep ..... It doesn't cost any less to buy two different powders than one. May as well use the most appropriate for each and forget about a compromise.

.270 Win loads

I use RL 22 in my .270 Win and it works good. Use 140 Nosler and 58.5 gr of RL 22 with federal primer. Gives good accuracy and around 3050 ft/sec. Seem to very consistant.

I've shot tons of 4064 in the .270, used it in the 22/250 with 52, 55 and 75 grain bullets. Growing up reading Jack O'Conner may have warped me, but he used to claim that the most consistantly accurate .270 load he had was 49.5 grains of 4064 and a 130 grain bullet. The very first load I ever put together was that recipe, killed a lot of stuff with it too. 4064 was around for years before Bruce H. started peddling surplus cannon powder. So was the .270.
