Equals one shot, one dead bear.

FIL had an encounter with one at the lake yesterday. This one had been injured by a car and was being a loitering delinquent. He first saw it on their deck, got the rifle, and then shot it when it went around to the other side of the house. Bang flop dead.

But since he had to get the other 4 cartridges out of the gun anyway . . .

:D

So who says the .270 Win can't kill bears effectively? (150 gr Federal cheapos).

Does he (the FIL) happen to live in the Vic Beach area? If so, I heard about this bear. My coworker lives in the beach area and was telling me about this bear. Apparently he was foaming at the mouth and was being very agressive towards people. Glad to see someone got the bear before Halloween when the kids are out walking.

Only an idiot woudl say that a 270 won't work on a black bear!! I've killed 2 wiht a 270.

270/280/30-06...not much difference.:runaway:

have shot 3 bears witha .270win. 2 dropped at the shot, the other went 10yrds and piled up.

going to agree with Clarke on this one, only the ignorant doubt the .270

I've seen quite a few animals up to the size of moose shot with a 270 and 150 Partitions. Good, effective round, that's for sure!
