Using a 270 win. savage stainless 116 this up coming hunting season mainly for mule deer, black bear maybe a moose. Whats your opinions on either 140 sst bullet,145 grain eld x or 140 grain hornady interlock bullets ? Im not familiar with using a 270 win. these bullets are the ones ive been eyeing up for hunting seeing whats the best bullet option for this purpose. Moose hunt is a big maybe this year mostly for mule deer rest of black bear season.

The accuracy load with a 150 grain Nosler was 52.0 grains of H4350.
The down side was the lowest velocity of their loads.
IIRC my first loads measured 1.4 for 3 shots at 200m.
Sierra does not even list H4350 but these are their accuracy loads.

Accuracy Load: RE-22/ 53.7grs. 2800fps/ 2611ft. lbs.
Hunting Load: RE-22/ 55.2grs. 2900fps/ 2801ft. lbs.

Barnes 140 grain: *H4350 48.9 2704 54.4 2995
Barnes 129 and 130 grain bullets would also fit the bill and some may exceed 3200 fps.

Shot truckloads of deer ,black bear and moose with 130gr Hornadys./57gr IMR4831/Win or Fed brass/Fed or CCI mag primer.

I used 130 grain Interlocks and Sierra Gamekings to great effect on deer in my earlier hunting days. A near max load of IMR 4350 or 4831 (can't recall off the top of my head which we were using?) would put three of either bullet into a dime at 100 yards out of the old man's 700 ADL. The old man used the same gun for moose hunting, loaded with 150 grain Interlocks.

I'm still of the opinion that the 130 grain pills in a 270 Winchester makes for one of the best deer cartridges out there. I'm currently tinkering with an old Parker Hale and a Timney. Hopefully I get the stock back in shape before hunting season.

130 and 140 grain Ballistic Tips. 130 and 140 grain Accubonds. 130 grain Sciroccos for a somewhat stiffer option. Any Partition you can get to shoot. 130 and 140 grain Interlocks.

My best load is with a 150gr partition. Shot from my 270win savage axis.

I also have a MOA load with 130gr ballistic tip... But i haven't had a chance to use either on game. 130gr corelokt dropped my black bear last fall in a single broadside shot through both lungs and out the other side.

Im basically out of the partitions and BTs, I'm debating between the 130gr Scirocco and 150gr Woodleigh now. I like the performance and price of the Woodleighs but I've got a bunch of 130gr PowerPoints for range fodder, so I thought the 130 Scirocco might shoot closer to the same point... One the one hand, the Scirocco will go faster and has better BCs, on the other the Woodleigh is heavier which is rarely a bad thing...

ELD-X is unnecessary unless you really need to reach out there, and not really practical as a general purpose projectile, IMO.

The SST is identical construction to the InterLock, except the SST has the tip.

If you choose SST, I highly recommend the 150gr annealed in candle flame, pushed to 2900 fps. This is an excellent all-round .270 projectile and shoots sub-M.O.A. out of my Savage 111 (identical to 116 except not stainless).

There are lots of options out there, though, as I am sure you know. You can't really go wrong with a Partition, and I have used the 150gr Speer Grand Slam to great effect on larger critters like elk and moose.

Any of the 3 would likely serve. If you are concerned email or call and speak with a Hornady rep. I'd lean towards the more traditional interlock but that just my personal preference.

Sako Finnlight .270, I have been using Hornady SST, 130 gr for years. One shot kills out to 300 yds on a consistent basis on deer, both my son and myself. Same rifle in 30-06, Hornady SST, 165 gr, same one shot results on moose and elk, both of us. Just throwing it out there.

I have used Nitrex ammo (which was 130 gr Speer grand slam bullets going 3100fps) with great success
They don’t make it anymore but you can.

Also used Hornady 140 gr BTSP going 2800 FPS and they work fine.
