.270 Win - What Has It Done For You Lately?

the year I broke my ankle while on a hunt (didn't know it was broken yet):
I was limping down the trail back to camp, gun slung on my back. Came around a corner and a buck about 25 yards away raised his head to check me out.
I made a move for the gun and the deer took two jumps and was gone.
I realize now, it was the guns fault, a 270 win. tikka t3.

Too funny!!! ;)

Re: the 25-06: with 75 gr. Hornady V-Max's ... 3700 isn't flat enough ???

Barnes lists loads with the .270 with their 85gr bullet at ~3900fps, which I suspect will be quite flat. ;)
At the other end of the spectrum a 150gr Partition - or even the 160gr Partition - has you covered for the heavier stuff.

I like the .270 Win.

The 270 Win with a 110 Gr V-Max @ .370 BC and 3300 FPS is within a few inches of drop out to 400, and is flatter after 1000. Just to make an argument for the Winny. Not even taking into account comparing actual hunting bullets and the difference in energy.

This is why I need to start reloading for my rifles. The thought of ripping 85 grs out of my 270 at 3900 fps make me feel....tingly:)

Yup, really impressive. I used to load the old 75gr X to just under 4000fps in my .257 Wby and it was very effective on hogs and deer.

This buck fell to the little 75gr X - the distance was +150 yards IIRC.
