For whitetails it excellent for elephants it sucks. I think you need to be a bit more specific as to the game you plan on hunting w/ it.

They are great, had one for years now i shoot a 270WSM but i use 130gr. partitions or 140gr TSX.

I was wondering the same. Last year a I bought a bunch of cheap Federal Power-Shock 150 grain SP Round nose and it shot 3/4 inch groups all the time. I couldnt do that with my 130 interbonds or 130 silvertips.
Ive since sold that gun but I did take whitetails with the 150's and they did shoot well under MOA.

More than enough for deer and on the minimum side for elk and moose.It certainly will kill the larger animals,but there are better choices.

I think it's a little like the 3006, it will do almost anything, but isn't close to being the best at anything. For deer 130 work well, but you need premium bullets if you happen to shoot at close range, it's pretty flat, but not as flat as the varuious magnums with light bullets comparable to 130's. It doesn't recoil as much as a magnum, but does recoil as much or more than most standard calibres, it's a long actioin making light guns a bit more difficult to make.
I'm not really a big 270 fan, I currently don't own any and probably won't again.

Never had a problem with my 270 close range(20-30 yards) with 130 win power points on deer.

Think about it .......... If you could get a brand new Husqvarna for $5oo -$6oo, you'd probably see alot more of those than Remingtons.

There are many great bolt action rifles out there, Remington included.

So, here we have a person that apparently doens't know anything about one of the most common cartridges used for hunting in North America,but can speak with authority on what type of rifle is "better" than the other.


FWIW, I'm not much of a Remington guy, but I do think this is funny

I've got more Remington's than anything else... However, I do have a couple Ruger 77's, a couple Swede Mausers, a couple Tikkas, a couple Lee-Enfield #4's, a Browning A-bolt and a Win 70.... guess I just loves 'em all.
