270 work up

Didn't I read that Jack used 62 grains as well? I have a lot of his books and he was always talking about the loads he used on various hunts.

Yes, he sure did!
I think he first said it in his regular column in Outdoor Life. And yes, I tried it. It shot well and no sign of excess pressure in my rifle, but it was such a job to get all the powder in the case, that I gave up on it and apparently a lot of other reloaders thought the same thing, as it didn't go over, while the 60 grain load lasted forever. I had to use a drop tube of about a foot long and tap the case as the powder went in, in order to get 62 grains in a 270 case.
