270 WSM and 300 WSM

Since the OP asked about the 270WSM and 300WSM you must be referring to your experience with the 300WSM as it has a .308 bore. So your advice would be to buy the 300WSM.

I've always had good luck with 30cals but in reality a proper bullet going reasonably fast & is well placed will always kill a deer.

I've had both the .300 WSM and the .270 wsm did not appreciate the recoil of the .300 so sold it MY .270 wsm is a tack driver with 130g accubonds It fits well and comes up nice as for the 308 ....Ford Chevy Dodge that's why there are so many ...and now we have all the new AI's and 6.5 x 300..

Been hunting deer and elk with a .300 WM for about 20 years now...my next gun will probably be a .270 WSM, if I don't fall for a .270 Win. steal of a deal first.

With the kind of quality ammo/bullets available now, it's all one really needs...even for moose.

I have the 300WSM in a Browning Stainless Stalker. Feels like a 30-06 really. One the other hand, ...I've shot the 270 WSM in a Tikka T3 lite..."OUCH" compared to my Browning...lol
Have you seen any of the T3 Forests around ? Nice, roll over cheek pc, checkered walnut....I grabbed one of those in 6.5x55...took a long time but I finally found one!!...LOOOOOVE IT !!

I have a T3 Lite in 270 wsm and also a Browning Stalker in 300 wsm, must admit the Tikka has a hell of a kick compared to the Browning, but it's a sweet rifle the action is like silk (Browning not as smooth) It just loves accubond 140. I've never hunted Elk but with a good bullet I've no fear the 270 will do the job very well.

Don't listen to the nay sayers. The 270 & 300 wsm are here to stay. I'm in the 300wsm camp with my model 70 CRF with 4 bull moose with 4 shots that stopped each of them "dead" on the spot. Shortest was about 45yrds the longest 255 yrds (lazer measured).

There is real science behind the short mag. It goes back to artillary chrges in the first world war. They realized back then that a short fast charge was inherently more accurate than a longer burn. This is why the 6ppc is the way it is. I seen one of the early posts early in this thread talk about short mags dissapearing. Immediately i thought, there is someone that is missinformed

I bought and reload for a Tikka T3 in .300 WSM. I have a .270 WIN so I wanted to try a magnum calibre and opted for the.300 WSM. It'd be a toss up between the two if I never already had a .270 WIN. A friend of mine has taken Moose and Black Bear with his .270 WSM, he reloads a premium bullet but they were all one and done, no followup shots required.

I have reloaded for 4 tikka t3 300wsm's. I started with on and after seeing the results I'm getting with 200 & 208gr bullets long range my buddies are slowly selling their guns and joining the club. Recoil is better than what my 7mag was in the same gun. Accuracy is as good as any other hunting caliber I've shot, and the cartridge is easy to get shooting well. As for the rifle itself, all Tikkas are on a long action so you can file down the bolt stop, extend the factory mag, and seat the heavies out to the lands. 300wsm has become my favourite caliber in this setup. No more belted mags for me ;)

The owner of the local gun shop in my area was trying to sell me on a .270wsm over a standard. 270. Part of his sales pitch was that the wsm had less recoil than the standard .270. Anyone have any feedback on this?

I just inherit a Remington seven 300 wsm haven't shot it yet
I know my uncle never cared much for the recoil and was using a slip on recoil pad
