I picked up a new Tikka T3 in a 270 wsm it has a 24" barrel ,i was wondering what kind of loads some of you CNG guys are using. From what ive been reading it can send some projectiles down range pretty fast.
Id like to shoot 140 NAB
Thanks

150 LRAB at 3000fps idk if that's good velocity but it shoots 2.75" groups at 300 yards so that's accurate. Also in a tikka t3.

I'm using 66.5 grains of old style 7828 under 130 grain Ballistic-tips and Accubonds in my Kimber Montana. 3400 fps and under MOA out to 650; although by then I'm aiming with the post of the B&C reticle.

I'm trying to think of a single long range BG animal I've taken taken with that combo and the best I can come up with was a buck at about 400 and that with the Ballistic Tip. It all worked out.

However; if I extrapolate a little I've shot a lot more with the 270 Weatherby which has just a bit more oomph, or a little less depending on the load. I'd cheerfully take that out to 650-700 for either species. In fact, I'm taking one of mine on a fallow/red deer cull in August although with 140 Accubonds and 130 Sciroccos. I'm using a 7-300 for the longer stuff.

I have a T-3 270 WSM and I've been shooting 130 gr Barnes TSX bullets over 67.0 gr of RL 19 and CCI 250 Primers. Shoots very well out of my rifle, and I'm getting about 3250 fps.

Hey dogleg what would your animal and distance limitations be shooting the 130 Accubond
Deer 500 yds , elk 300yds ??

Thanks

Myself I've taken a moose at 476, elk at 410, a few elk in the 300 to 350 range all with 130 Accubonds. Love them

Deer I use ballistic tips, like hammer of thor on em.

I wouldn't be scared to push it to 600 possibly 700 in the right condition but expansion might be a bit less than I'd like past 600 but put it in the right spot like u should and game over with the accubonds.

If you live south of the bridge and want to get out and touch something do some target shooting first. Then move to coyotes.

Those T3's are an amazing gun for the price. I am only now finding out the capabilities of the .270 WSM. WoW.
