.270 wsm loads

The two 270 WSM's that I did load development for both prefferred IMR 4350 powder....FED 215 primers...win brass(over Rem and FC's)...with 130 gr Nosler CT Balistic Silver tips...Ballistic Tips and Hdy SST's...One was a mod 70 CRF with an internal mag...I could lengthen them out a bit...the other is a Tikka T-3...I was limited by the mag length....both these guns LOVE 59 grains of 4350...and the Tikka will shoot 59.5 and 60 grains with the 140 gr accubonds! Both these loads in both these guns gave us a 1/2-3/4 " groups at 100 yds consistently....some times a bit smaller when the boys were on their game.
The Tikka with the 140 Accubonds will be going on a moose hunt here in NS...in 11 days :D :D

...I'll be using my 300WSM with 180 gr Nos Bal Silv Tips for back up...my son will be using his 270 Win...140 gr Win Fail Safes for his part of the hunt!!

I have had good luck in two Kimber 8400's with Ramshot Magnum, H4350 and H4831 and 130gr TSX's. If I had to choose it would be the Magnum; it produced sub MOA accuracy and 3350fps consistantly.

I am going to lead free bullets in all my hunting rounds as of this year. I don't have time to work up any loads for the 130/140 gr. TSX I have chosen for the .270 WSM, but I am going to use the loads from the Accubonds and CoreLokts that I have and hope for the best. Unless someone has a specific load they like in this bullet/caliber they may wish to share. :)

I don't recommend you just use data for your barnes from other bullets. But that's just me. I also recommend you work up to my load if you are going to use it.

130gr ttsx
Remington brass
Fed 215m primer
61.5 gr H4350
COAL 2.833
3250 fps

Thanks, Kman. The Barnes site shows that with their bullets my previous loads are well within their safe range. I should have mentioned that. I always use the least charge possible while maintaining sufficient accuracy. Heresy I'm sure, but my shots are always under 100. I don't own any H4350, but I will give it a go after the season.

Try rl 22 and 130 grain bullets.R1 patterned with 140 grain bullets

It has been suggested to me, and I am beginning to subscribe to the notion, that for short shots in a .270 WSM that a heavier bullet (a 140 gr as you suggest) would be better at the task for deer. Lower velocity seems to be the significant factor. Who just wants less velocity? ;)
