Hey all.
Anyone have much experience with 270 wsm? I haven't ever considered this for a hunting round but there is a decent priced xbolt at a lgs so im tryin to get some real life hunting info on er.
thanks!

I have used one for about 10 seasons now, shot a lot of deer and a bull elk with mine. It will give you about 200 fps over the 270 Winchester, so not a huge amount of difference between the two, but it does shoot a bit flatter. I picked mine up because I didn't already own a 270 Win, and I wanted a flat shooting rifle for deer hunting on the prairie. If I already owned a 270 Win or 7mm Rem Mag, I would see no point with the 270 WSM. However, I like the cartridge, it was new at the time, and I wanted something a little different.

Love mine that I have /had. Sold my 2 Tikka T3 LS models (new since 2004) when I bought a mint Sako m75ss model in 2012. I sold my Tikkas to my fatherinlaw and broinlaw .

140gr Accubond reloads were my medicine. The Winchester Supreme Ammo in 140gr Accubonds or the 150gr XP3's would be a great choice in factory ammo.

140's have more than proven performance on big game in my family...elk, moose, bears, deer, wolves.

I never really experimented too much with the Barnes TSX in 140 gr or the 130gr TTSX. They would be a great choice as well. The performance of my reloads of AB's, I stuck with them.

Had one in a Browning A bolt and my son has one in a Tikka, great flat shooting round I would buy again but I own two 270win rifles,

I own 2 Browning A bolts in 270WSM. One I have owned since 2003ish?? Killed many many animals from yotes to deer to elk and lots in between. Awesome round! I don't think I will ever get rid of them,..well maybe when particle execrators become mainstream :)

I've had mine for about 8 years now for deer and moose and even if I upgrade the rifle in the future, the caliber is going to stay the same. Factory ammo is expensive but also varies from store to store. The win ballistic silvertips I use are $62 at canadian tire and $37 at Lebarons.
