Anyone out there regularly shooting .270 wsm? Recently acquired one but haven’t shot yet.

Very curious what this round is all about 😁👍

I've used one for about a dozen years or more for deer with 150gr. ballistic silvertips. Likely between 15-20 taken with it at distances from 50yds to 410yds. Most shots around 200yds. The only one requiring a 2nd shot to finish him off was the one at 50yds that snuck up behind me from an open field. 90% of them go limp and drop on the spot with the longest one going about 20yds. They can do some damage but if you put it in the boiler room meat loss is minimal. Not so much if you hit the shoulder. Factory ammo can be pricey.

No big improvement over the .270 Win. Less mag capacity as well. Ok if you're a hand loader, but factory ammo is hard to find and expensive. I buy brass every time I see it, which is rare. I bought it as a novelty, light and fun to play with, great on wolves. :)

Not the .270 version but I have had several of the 7mm and .30 cal versions. It is a good case for small to medium bore cartridges. I recently debated on the .270 WSM, but had just built a 6.5 Rem Mag that basically fills the same niche. I think that you will find it to be an excellent deer to moose cartridge.

The 270 wsm is my favourite of the wsm group.
I have a Tikka T3 and a stainless classic M70 SA in one. Both are good shooters.
The 130 Ttsx load for the T3 hits 3280 fps with H4350. Which is a solid 150 fps above my 270 Win loads on a a good day.
The 270 wsm Winchester brass has been better for me as well, compared to the split necks I get in the 300wsm.

I love mine, shoots 160gr partitions at 3000fps.

Just a quick look at the Nolser load data, the WSM with the 160 Partition is 200-300 fps faster depending on powders chosen. Not to bad.

I sold my Marlin 30-06 and have been eyeing off a Savage model 11 270wsm and a savage 16? 270win Leftys....... the 270 win is proberly all i need but the WSM gives that extra bit out a tad further...but i dont need either so i should close my eyes

I shot many Deers, a 50 inches ankers Moose and a 40 inches ankers Moose with .270 WSM. It is a very precise caliber and the impact don't make damages to the meat.

I get 3400 fos with 130s and 7828.

Exterior and terminal ballistics are about what you’d expect from a 3400 fps 130 NBT. Typically animals go down like the ground got jerked out from underneath them. Flatter than pizz on a plate too.

.300 Wins don’t get jealous. They do occasionally get amused.

And some calibers get way better press than they deserve. :) I like mine, but for the serious stuff, can't beat the old 7 mm Rem. Short Mags are a has been, just another marketing ploy.

I got one, 150gr LRAB @ 3000fps, T3 I like it.

Just had a 300wsm built, but it is a heavier gun so I still need that T3 until I find a new round to build on it.

That's kinda where I fell on this too. Already have a 270win, didn't see enough difference in the 270wsm so I sold the dies I had before getting a rifle. Ended up with a 7rem mag more recently, and I feel like the heavier pills offered in 7mm give it a step up. Eventually I want to get a 7wsm or saum but for now the old rem mag will do just fine.

Samw for me, R22 works well also. I get 250fps more velocity than the 3 270"s I had love mine accurate as hell
