270 wsm???

not familar with this caliber, can anyone give me their thoughts on such
 
It is an excellent cartridge, though it does tend to have some noticeable recoil, and even more noticeable muzzle flash/ concussion. It lies ballistically between .270 winchester and the .270 Weatherby magnum, both excellent cartridges. It would work for pretty well anything you might hunt, short of the big bears.
 
thanks for the input, gabrielguitars. was wondering how versatile the caliber was. As for the recoil and such, am fortunate to know the person who has it and will get to take a few shots out of it shortly.....might be too much,,,guess I will know then..
 
Welcome to CGN. I have a 270wsm and think it's great. However if you dont hand load the wsm it really isn't much better than the 270, and factory wsm will cost double that ot the 270 stuff. Post this question in the "general firearms" board and you will get a lot more info.Cheers.
