Finally got out to get the rifle set up for bears this spring (and other animals as they arise).

Man oh man am I impressed.

I went to the shop to buy reloading supplies and they did not have the 270 wsm dies, so I bought some factory ammo to try and planned on going to a different store when I got a chance to pick up the 270 wsm dies.

The ammo I bought was the Federal loaded Trophy Bonded Bear Claw.

Being a TTSX TSX and GMX fan (in that order) I was a bit hesitant, but still shelled over the 47$ a box and took these 130 grainers to the woods.

3 shots later I was printing at 2 inches high, centre, @ 100 yrds.

The next 5 shots printed .87 inch.

Last 2 shots I let my Dad fire (he's up visiting) and he doesn't shoot much anymore. The two shots were less than a hair apart..I couldn't help but smile (more about my Dad than the rifle and bullets)

I feel like I'm cheating on my Barnes girlfriend though...:D

Depends on what the gun likes, not the shooter. I have a .30-06 that won't group 180gr bullets worth a pinch of coon sh!t. And 220's shoot patterns, not groups, lol. I can get about 1 1/4" if I do my part with lots of different 165gr loads but the surprise came when I picked up some Federal factory 150gr loads just to blow off for practice as they were on sale cheap. That SOB'n old .30-06 puts 5 shots of that cheap factory ammo into one big ragged hole! I'm not a fan of 150gr Plain-Jane cup & core bullets for anything bigger than a coyote, but I was completely unaware of this barrel's preference! One of my pals uses 130's in his WSM, another likes 150's in his. My .270WSM was fine with the 140's so thats what I used. There ain't a dimes worth of difference between any of them when it comes to big game, they all kill 'em dead from what I can tell.

Very true, but if we don't have preferences, what would be argue about?
:D

We don't argue Brother gunnut, we discuss ;) Be well and welcome back to the Peace!

I love it up here. I canoe the smokey and peace quite often and hunt all points in between, especially the foothills and AB border. Worked in Dawson Creek for a time, more your neck of the woods...

I can usually be found somewhere between Peace River and Grande Cache on the west side nowadays...lol
