270wsm good for yotes?

I use 110gn V-Maxs in my .308 and .30-06 out to 300yds. The '06 almost always has a small exit, smaller than the entrance. No reason why that should be different with the .270 WSM. Head shots are absolutely devastating!!
Use what you have until you decide that you want to shoot coyotes on a more regular basis. Then get what you want, though I would lean toward a .22-250.
I went with a .308 because i didn't want another calibre in the cabinet. Only .22LR, .30 and .303 allowed now. Had to cull the herd, but the wife still has her .243.

I got a coyote this fall at 64 yards standing broadside with my .325wsm, way too much gun for a lil doggy! I was using 220 grain factory loads. no pics but all that was left was the very last rib and the front shoulder, no ribs in between. but I didnt care about the pelt at the time so I let 'er buck!

if your like me, and half the guys on here, its a pretty good reason to buy another gun!!
but if your wanting to save some money there is no reason not to use your gun, your bullet choice and load will decide the damage done.

i first hunting rifle i ever had is still my go to gun, rem 700 7mm cdl . i reach passed 25 others for that one every time the hunt means something to me. it shoots gofers to moose, all with the same bullet and load.

ive shoot coyotes with every gun i own from 375 ultra to 22lr , bottom line , every gun kills what you point it at, so get what you want , if you dont like it sell it and get another one , you will no it when you get a keeper. as our friend on BNN likes to point out from time to time," guns hold there value steadier then gold, its a good investment for a future sale", buy low sell for at least the same amount.(tell your wife that)

also if you like Burris should try the Burris with the ballistics reticle they work good. all of my hunting rifles have Boone&Crockett reticles now and set up properly all work great.

I'm thinking of a 7mm RM for elk/moose on down for my go to gun. What bullet and load do you use?

Nikon coyote special 4.5-14x40

The nice part is that BDC style reticle will work for your .270wsm as it has very similar ballistics to the .223 (which it was designed for) for the range of that scope, when zero'd at 100 yards. (should be within 1/2" at 300 yards, definitely well within minute of Coyote) Another bonus is you can buy this Nikon scope and 10 boxes of ammo for the price of the Leupold 4.5-14

Winchester Power-max 130 grain
My experience with the power-max is that they expand dramatically on impact and should work very well on a yote. However, in the 270WSM at least, I don't recommend them for deer, even though that was their intended use.

it'll work just fine :D

i loves my 30-06 and 308 on them. Depending on bullet used you may punch a huge hole, you may not get any exit hole, you never know. Shot placement and range have enough influence that if using a big bore, could go either way.
