Face it guys, kurt just wants to be like me since I have a mdl 70 featherweight in 270wsm
what can I say, I am ###y
I have one aswell but plan on keeping it at least for awhile as it is really showing great promise.Here it is with Leupold M-8 fixed 8x40AO.
Using 62.0 grains of IMR 4350 and 130grain Nosler partitions it will put 3 into a dime @ 100 for an average velocity of 3149fps.Also shoots 150's quite well but I've yet to find the load to match the accuracy of the 130's.
Should be a WMD on coyotes if I can get a load developed with the 110 V-max or the 90 grain Sierra HP's that I have recently picked up!

I have two Tikka T3 270WSM in the laminate stainless (I do not like the SS model and waited the extra year for the LS model to be released in 2004). My wife took over the first one, so I got another. Both have Leupold VX3 scopes (silver 3.5-10x40 and a matte 4.5-14x40) with the BC reticle, shooting 140gr Accubonds-factory Winchester Supremes at first out of my wife's and reloads using BigRedd's recipe out of mine from the start and reloads out of my wife's rifle now).
Both rifles shoot uder 1/2" 5 shot groups 100metres with a 3 shot group @ 0.247" (about 5/8" with factory WS ammo). Big Game here in Alberta (moose, elk, WT, Mulies, bears, odd coyote) have been taken, mostly all one shot kills-complete pass thrus at distances varying from approx. 75metres out to 400 metres. Last season, my wife took her first bull moose @ 325m with 2 shots as I did not want the bull to make it to the timber. The first shot was a kill shot-double lung, and the 2nd shot was very close the first placement.
I really think you will love the 270WSM caliber.
I was skeptical at first always using my 300WM for everything -especially the elk and moose, but the 270WSM is and has proven to be a great performer. SO much that I may just hunt the entire season this year with my rifle.
I was a 1-rifle kind of guy when I bought my Sako m75SS 300WM, but as you said got interested inthe 270WSM for something different.

If you like the T3, you'll like the Sako 85 over the Sako 75. The new stock design uses the same ideal as for the T3, reducing the recoil. I have the SS Model 85 in a 270 WSM and a friend has the Model 75 SS in a 270 WSM. The recoil is less on the 85 than the 75 and the 85 is lighter.
i think the 270wsm 300 wsm and 7mm wsm will stay and maybe the 325 wsm too but some of those others are destined for a brief blurb in a history book ie 25 wssm 223 wssm and the 243 wssm although dont own one they seem a little rediculouse with no real added bonuse
That's pushing it pretty hard no? Most data I have seen for the 270 wsm shows ~3075 to be the top end with most powders.
The Stainless Ruger 270wsm I had for a short time - one of the most disapointing rifles I have ever owned btw- would not even get 3000 fps using Retumbo and 140s and sprayed shot-gun patterns instead of groups. It went back to the dealer after 3 weeks.

I was looking over the .270WSM's at the local toy store this morning and handled a Sako 85 SS. It seemed OK but SS/plastic rifles don't float my boat anymore. Although I'm a M70 guy, my pick would be the Kimber 8400 Classic

Sako model 85 rifles
I personally do not like the stock design of the new Sako model 85- looks just like the Tikka T3. I prefer the Sako m75 stock design ( I have a Sako m75SS 300WM and a SS 243Win.). One of the reasons I bought the Tikka T3 rifles is that Sako did not have their Greywolf model out yet when I bought my laminate stainless Tikka's. Second reason was price to try out the new 270WSM caliber. I like my Tikka rifles but LOVE my Sako rifles. I should have bought the used Sako m75SS 270WSM in the "SM" action from Ellwoods Epps this past winter when I had the chance.
Oh well. My Tikka rifles are great shooters and I would buy/reccommend a Tikka rifle anyday. Great value for your money. I just do not like the synthetic Lite stocks and prefer the Laminate models.

I guess that's what makes the world go around, everyone prefers some models over other models. As nice as the models 75 and 85 are, either one measures up to the old models.
Overall, the 270 wsm is a very nice caliber to shoot. Some people believe these short magnums will disappear. I strongly feel the 270 wsm will survive.

I should have bought the used Sako m75SS 270WSM in the "SM" action from Ellwoods Epps this past winter when I had the chance.
I guess I beat you to it. I saw that Sako synthetic sitting there at Ellwoods for a while and decided to pick it up, not that i kneaded another Sako 270 WSM but figured I’d rebarrel it to the 300 WSM. Just like others have mentioned the new Sako 85 doesn’t appeal to me as much as the older 75...

I have a Winchester Featherweight in .270wsm. It is my favorite hunting rifle. The gun is light and the recoil is a little heavy, but I don't notice it when I've got something in the crosshairs.
I've had mine for several years. The only thing I regretted when I bought it was the limitted ammont of factory ammo choices. They've since improved and now I have enough brass to start reloading.
