Was having lunch...:) It was a wee bit brisk out there tonight. Lots of deer and elk moving though.

Guess I should have looked at the time, was thinking your post was later.

Glad my blind has a wood burning stove and my bed, and the shooting bench 15 yards from the door ;). just watching for coyotes now though...

I used to love winter and all that went with it, now I hate it!!

That is a "gettin' old" thing... I was the same, ice fishing, skiing, snowshoeing etc... now I think hard for reasons NOT to have to go out in -30 and 5 feet of snow... swapping scopes around and reloading works for awhile, but by February I have a bad case of cabin fever... turkeys are the first "fix" in the spring..

I stayed home this morning it was a freezing -7C at the house probably a couple degrees colder where I hunt.

Just didn't feel like digging on the warm clothes yet.

:p

went out sat morning, -28C, got the quad running, snow was knee deep, chevy trucks were plowing, my ford was ok

thought I would test the quad along the road first so I would'nt end up stuck if things went bad.....

good plan, things went bad, poor old quad died about 1/4 mile down the road. So had to walk back to the truck and then get the dead quad loaded, good thing I have a winch mounted in the back of the truck box. Its a real back saver.

So Saturday was the end of my hunting season.

Quad was in the heated shed over night and would not start on Sunday, I guess that will be the spring project, which I don't have time for. :(

I went out Sat morning with my phone telling me that it 'felt like -40'. Beautiful out there but I'll be making tag soup this year. I had a bull moose respond to my doe bleat but the largest animal I saw was a rabbit. Hopefully next year I'll have a little more skill and a little more luck.

+10 right now, but suppose to goto -3 tomorrow. But back to +10 on Wed. Dunno Nester, All I hear are feuds against drug dealers. I'm glad I got rid of my diesel... lol

Went out Sat and Sun north of Rocky. Nothing moving Sat and it was a bit nippy.
The -40 wind chill was a biit much even with fleeze and down underwear.

Sunday was better. Still cold but not mind-numbing.

Two hours to go in hunting season I pinned the buck tag that i had saved on a 2" spiker. At least once I've cut him up the freezer is looking good for the year.

Still a bit of work butchering, making sausage and jerky for a couple of weeks to round out hunting season. All in all it was a good year and fun.

The animals have nowhere to seek refuge from the cold while humans have the option of heated clothing, hot drinks, and leaving to go to a heated shelter when done hunting.

Don't be a sissy :d:p :d

I love the cold. The freezer is full and ice fishing is underway.
Got my first snowmachine this year. so next season I would like to do a late season elk hunt
