Evening gang,

After a number of years away from the shotgun reloading scene I'm looking for a little guidance on where to get my hands on hulls for 28 gauge. Picking up a MEC Sizemaster later this week at Hummasons. Googling and a bunch of visits to site sponsors websites haven't landed any results. Are most guys buying factory and re-stuffing those once fired hulls?

I have some new era Win AA and Remington STS hulls but am looking for a source for raw unfired hulls as well to feed my new addiction to 28 gauge shooting.

I'm in the Kitchener area so close to both Hummasons and Lawrys but neither appear to have hulls for sale (spoke with Hummasons today).

Planning to run International Clays powder as that's what Hummasons has on hand at the moment, open to any other recommendations people have around components or combos for 28 Gauge. Gun is a Browning Cynergy (fits me and I hit with it mostly) game of choice is skeet.

Most reloaders are buying factory shells and reusing the hulls. I'm in the same general area as you and don't recall ever seeing unfired hulls of any gauge.

International Clays may not be what you want for 28 gauge. Hodgdon doesn't currently list a recipe for it. They recommend Universal Clays, 800X, HS6 and Longshot for lead 3/4 ounce target loads using Winchester HS and Remington STS. Here's a link to their data site.

My preferred powders for 28 gauge are Alliant Unique and Universal Clays. Both work well.

Also, I found sourcing Remington components to be a challenge compared to Winchester although it's been a while since I last tried.

Sorry yes I think I had my powder names mixed up, it's the universal variety. I had been hoping to grab Unique as that was also recommended by a fellow at my club (twin city), but not able to find it currently.

now to find a cheapish source for donor ammo to supply my new addiction, loving this gauge for skeet!

I use 800x (mainly because that was all that was available when I started reloading two years ago). Having said that I am happy with my loads. . Lawrys shows it as available on their website however I have not called to verify it is in stock
