28 Nosler or 7mm chamberings

Been looking at 7mm chamberings lately. Never really played with the 7mm caliber before.

I have a Rem 700 that I was thinking of changing the barrel. Currently it is a 7mm RUM. Brass is just too hard to find.

So I have a magnum bolt face 700 action with a ultra mag magazine.

7mm STW?
28 Nosler?
Something that brass can be found fairly easily. Even if I have to buy factory ammo first.

Who has a 28 Nosler? What do you think. Seems comparable to the RUM.

If you have a look at Nathan Foster's Terminal Ballistic Research website, he makes a compelling argument in favor of his version of the 7mm-.300 Winchester called the 7mm Practical. Among the advantages claimed are: accuracy suitable for long range hunting, a longer bore life than is typical from either a 7mm Ultra or STW, without giving up a huge amount of velocity. Might be true.

Looks like the 28 Nosler is well liked. I have an ultra mag action so have the long mag box. Should work out well. JC has a reamer.

I have a 28 on an AV Sako. Can touch the lands with most hunting Bullets without taking up powder space at about 3.5”. I like it.

Have a friend who guided the Western United States and Mexico for Couse Deer among other things for Kirk Kelso. Said his least favourite cartridge was the 7MM STW. He generally liked the rifles but couldn’t stand any of their owners. Lol.

I recall a similar tale told to me by guides in South Africa, but the villainous cartridge was then the 300 Wby. - dan
