Having bought a box of the 7mm Mk1Z at auction I was eventually persuaded to build a couple of rifles in this calibre. No1 drama buying in dies and case forming kit, No2 finding a gunsmith happy to build these for me.
I might add as a UK Registered Firearms Dealer I have much more leeway in acquiring weapons than ordinary license holders so it's been a case of time and cash.
I found two Remington 700s in .243 as these seemed to be easy and cheap and also plentiful. I dropped three rifles off (more about the third one later) at Riflecraft which geographically is the back of beyond somewhere in Lincolnshire.
Paul my irritating mate who nagged me to do this bagged an AICS stock for his to make a faux L96 in this caliber. I have gone down the sporter road so we will have some variety and hopefully some sales.
We managed to get dies from Redding and found a company willing to produce the brass new but sadly out of our price range at the moment.
Paul and I live about 200 miles apart so most comma are e mail or BBM or via the ex services forum where we met. this means we keep in touch and meet about once a month to compare results.
We are waiting on the readers being delivered, the barrels have arrived so we are busy making cases. I have ordered new cutter heads and pilots for my Lyman trimmer and a cased Sinclair neck turning set thanks to a Kiwi mate who is a match rifleman who has given me some great lessons in neck turning.
Anyway here are a few pics of cases we have made so far, as I am on a pad at the moment it's easier to post a link to our forum;
