Having bought a box of the 7mm Mk1Z at auction I was eventually persuaded to build a couple of rifles in this calibre. No1 drama buying in dies and case forming kit, No2 finding a gunsmith happy to build these for me.
I might add as a UK Registered Firearms Dealer I have much more leeway in acquiring weapons than ordinary license holders so it's been a case of time and cash.
I found two Remington 700s in .243 as these seemed to be easy and cheap and also plentiful. I dropped three rifles off (more about the third one later) at Riflecraft which geographically is the back of beyond somewhere in Lincolnshire.
Paul my irritating mate who nagged me to do this bagged an AICS stock for his to make a faux L96 in this caliber. I have gone down the sporter road so we will have some variety and hopefully some sales.
We managed to get dies from Redding and found a company willing to produce the brass new but sadly out of our price range at the moment.
Paul and I live about 200 miles apart so most comma are e mail or BBM or via the ex services forum where we met. this means we keep in touch and meet about once a month to compare results.
We are waiting on the readers being delivered, the barrels have arrived so we are busy making cases. I have ordered new cutter heads and pilots for my Lyman trimmer and a cased Sinclair neck turning set thanks to a Kiwi mate who is a match rifleman who has given me some great lessons in neck turning.
Anyway here are a few pics of cases we have made so far, as I am on a pad at the moment it's easier to post a link to our forum;

.280/30 making a start

perhaps you might look at necking up 22-250 or 250-3000 cases.

I am interested in how this all ends up as 280 British would be a very interesting deer round.

Necking up has been tried with ,243 and involves another stage wheb length trimming unless a pipe cutter is used and ith boxer .308 cheap as chips we are kkeeping necking up in our back pockets for now

Hmmmm time to get out my big table of cartridges.

A bit of thread resurrection but we managed to get one rifle back from proof and load about fifty rounds for chrono testing and we are happy so far with the result.
I'm off to the Tower of London today for a do so will upload pictures and videos next week.
just a teaser

The test results are below;
Right, not sure of the best way to post these but here goes;

The bottom number is the total, variances could be due to neck tension of different cases made this year, creating a true uniform case is a real challenge.

We ran out of time to make the full amount of ammo for testing so we had hoped to go to 32 grains and then start with a 140 grain bullet. Plus we didn't have a moderator with that thread available

Now I need load data suggestions for a 140 grain bullet and I have my moderator due delivery too
