The .280 Ackley is a good cartridge, but factory Nosler brass is expensive, and while fire forming .280 Remington brass works, its one firing out of the case life of which you can only count on 5 before the primer pockets won't hold the primers without swagging. You might find the 7mm Magnum a better choice for a long action rifle. If you prefer a short action rifle, the .270 WSM is a good choice. The .348 Winchester had a pretty short run as big game cartridges go, and it was only cambered for one factory rifle, the Winchester 71, but you can still find .348 brass and ammo, so I doubt you have to worry much about the future availability of .270 WSM brass. I prefer fast twist barrels, and IMHO a .277 should have a 1:8 for the day you want to shoot .277/180 Woodleighs. These produce pretty keyholes from a 1:10.
