Recently purchased a 280 AI. It shoots well but not great ! Little over an inch lets say. Just curious on what has been working well for you? I am currently shooting 140 Nosler Accubonds over 60.5g of H4831

I would up the powder charge in .5 gr increments untill you get to 62 or 62.5 gr. load 5 at each and see if the groups start to shrink as the load gets hotter. Pay attention for presure signs though. Pick the best grouping charge then play around with the seating depth. If that doesn't tighten things up then try a different bullet. I have owned 4 AI chambering and still over the years (still own a 223AI and a 280AI) and every one of them shot best near or slightly over max pushlished loads and did not shoot worth a #### with any load under that.

A friend had the same rifle and tried the same bullet. Thing didn't shoot until he tried heavier bullets. Seems like Kimber barrels in 280 AI like the heavier bullets.

I have a Kimber 84 L Montana that gave me fits. I finally settled on 55 grains of IMR 4350 and berger 140gr VLD's. I get 2870 fps out of it. The ####ty part is the case is capable of so much more but with the rifle being so light I had to hold it back to get my accuracy. No point in being fast if it's not accurate. The standard 280 rem would be just fine.
