280 ai

The very first box of Nosler .280AI brass I bought was headstamped Norma,all since wear the Nosler headstamp but I hear Norma still makes it. Mur

It's a great caliber BUT not for too many rounds, it will serve you well for a hunting rifle. I have a friend that had one for target use 1000m stuff and it lasted for about 2 years, then a new barrel was needed. They burn out quickley.

How many rounds did it last?How many rounds do you think a 7mmremmag would have lasted?How about a 6.5x284 which is one of the better 1000m cartridges.

Two years for 1000m target use,is a long time.It certainly isn't burning out quickly.:rolleyes:

I'd love to burn out a barrel a year,..never mind two years...

I never worry to much about barrel life. For the most part, my range activity involves load work and that keeps me busy enough. Guess it's a bit ironic that after getting a rifle to shoot well, and that sometimes takes a while, I end up selling it. LOL. The cooper, I think, will be one that's worth keeping.
 
Ain't she sweet? Barrel break in is next, and then load development? Any suggestion for powder to start with first?

dang,..that's nice...if I had the bucks to get one of Clay's 280AI Coopers I could sell everything else...maybe....;)

I used Rel22 and Rel19 in 280AI...also used some H4831

Both of my Coopers in 280AI do best with R-22,but IMR 4831 isn't far behind.The 140gr TTSX,and the 140gr Accubond both work well.

You're going to want a Leica, Eric. No other scope that I have looked through can hold a candle to this one. The image, even at the 10x is clear and crip, just jumps out at you. I'll let you know how it does with tracking and stuff at the range, but right now, I would rate it tops.
