280 Rem, 168g AccuBond LR. What can’t it do?

I had a 7mm mag that I shot a bull elk with at 168 lr accubond at 80 yards. Bullet disintegrated, was not impressed with the close range performance. The elk was on a slight quarter , the bullet hit the front shoulder and stopped at the front shoulder. had I not quickly shot again in the neck, I think I would have lost that elk.... The regular accubond is a far better bullet IMHO.

I have done more research and I agree I mite be going for the regular Accubond or maybe 145g LRX. The LRX would still be going 1800 FPS at 600 but expansion problems still worries me, but I prefer non lead bullets... just the thought of lead in my meat does not make me happy

I have both custom mauser chambered in 280 first gun I ever bought when I was 18 from my uncle, was built out BC. Dropped a lot of deer with that gun 140-160 class bullets. Still have it not shot much after I picked up cooper Jackson game in 280AI. Love it. I shoot 150 Barnes ttsx with vit N165 at 2980fps. Absoulute hammer floors Deer, elk, moose dead. Will shoot 3 in one hole at 100, took a while to figure out the reload but them Barnes like a lengthy jump. Accubond is my second choice

The lrx is a great bullet. Have you looked at the 150 grain siricco II ? That would be a great choice! I tested some in milk jugs and they retained great weight and have a great .bc.

the 139gr LRX will expand down to 1400 fps according to Barnes. 2000 fps should give full expansion (550 yards if MV is 3000 fps)

Has anyone experience shooting the .280 Rem out of semi autos or pump guns? Curious as to how heavy they went in those guns and the types of accuracy and reliability they provided. This is mostly going to be input from guys that reload I suppose
