280 rem bullet for deer and moose

I’m using 150gr Partitions pushed by H-4831. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a do all anything in North America load. (minus the big bears of course)

154gr Interbond was the first bullet I shot in my 280 Rem. I thought something was broken in the scope or rifle, that's how bad the groups were. Switched to 160gr Accubonds and it was sub MOA.

I like the 160gr AB for a do-all bullet in 7mm, new for 2019 Nosler is making a 150gr AB which would be good too. Nothing wrong with the 140AB either, but it doesn't shoot much flatter than the heavier bullets, and sheds speed quicker downrange

... I was particularly impressed by my Nosler Partition bullets in 130 grains out of my 270 win on a big moose this year! The bullet entered over the shoulder and was recovered in perfect mushroom shape in the skin on the other side!
You should have a similar result with a 280.

I have an acceptable group but at 2600 fps at the muzzle but i thought it may be a bit slow out around 300 yards?

I'd prefer a little more velocity but my .308 did similar with 180's and I had little issue getting out to 300 yards. I didn't see load data listed so you may be able to find another node with better velocity or another powder all together. Other posters have mentioned lots versatile bullets that are also worth consideration. I'll add that I've been impressed by the 150 grain NBT.

Another vote or the 160 gr AccuBond.
Interesting to hear about the 150 gr AccuBond. I know my 280 did not like the 150 gr ABLR load that shot very fast and accurate in a friend's 280.
The 160 A-Frame is another great bullet.
The new 165 gr Gamechanger from Sierra should be a great bullet in the 280. I know the 165 gr SGK loaded only in Federal Premium ammunition was a great bullet in my 7mm Rem Mag! Took a number of deer, moose and elk with it.

Accuracy trumps all... I used to use a 30-06 for everything but it puts big holes in whitetail but is great for moose. In a 7mm(284) bullet I would lean towards something in the neighbourhood of 160 grains if your developing one load for the two animals you referred to. Although, I would prefer to use two separate loads and grain weight of bullet for each animal. It can be done with a lighter bullet like a 140 - 150 grainer for whitetail and a 160 to 175 grainer for moose. It might be a bit of a challenge to get them to shoot one one setting of the scope. So the other option os to have two guns of different calibers and load each one for the one primary animal that is likely to be hunted. Another interesting caliber for whitetail could be a 6.5x55. As it is a tad lighter on recoil and would be exceptional for deer. And use the 280 on moose.

Im working up a 165gr TGK Gamechanger load for my 280, good results so far

165 Sierra GameChanger for sure... I actually have 2 loads for the 280 as a do all load... 1st was the 160gr Federal Trophy Bonded tip going 2880 with IMR4831. Then I used the 165 Gamechanger as well. Also loaded it up in the 7-08. Accuracy was great with both. I took a nice 6.5 year old buck this year @ 210 yards. Never recovered any bullets. Sierra Says to use there 167g Match king for load data. After seeing how the Gamechanger worked on the deer, I would not hesitate to shoot that bullet @ moose.. Especially our Ontario moose.
