Get reloading and you'll love that 280. Unless I'm wrong, there will be way more 7mm bullets to choose from.

actually a few years back I searched out every .277 and .284 bullet I could find and there were just a couple more .284's available than .277's.

Would be interesting to do this again.........

But there are many more high BC Bullets available in .284. No contest there.

The new Accubond Long Range would be interesting to try in the .277 cals!

That confusion is the very reason that Remington dropped the metric designation.

Now if one were to compare the relative ballistics of the .270, .280, and the .30/06, each loaded with 150 gr bullets, he might discover that the .280 is slightly better than the other two. If each were loaded with a bullet with the highest BC, he might find that the .280 is slightly better than the other two. If each were loaded with the bullet having the highest SD, he might find the .280 is slightly better than the other two. If he has a bolt gun chambered in .280 Remington and rechambers it to .280 Ackley, he might find that its a bit better than the .280 Remington. And this is coming from a guy who claims the .30/06 is his favorite!

I saw the gun yesterday. It is built on an ex-military Brno Mauser 98 action with a new barrel, sporter sliding safety, hinged floor plate, custom trigger and synthetic stock.

My friend wants to scope it and play with it for a while yet.

I built a switch barrel rifle, with a 280 Remington barrel. I love it! Recoils Very mild, has waaay more quality, High BC bullets available than the 270 win. It just seems more practical for reloading variety/potential.

I Like the 270 as well, dont get me wrong.

Here is some targets I shot a couple weeks ago.





She shoots just fine for me! Check out the group size measurement on the bottom group! I laughed when my calculater spat that out! A 280rem shooting a .284/7mm group! I can gardly wait to stretch her out to 1760 yards! I will take my time though. No sense in rushing the fun and end goal! If I finish my goal to soon, I will just want to do something else! Lol!
