So I'm an amateur at best machinist and gunsmith who loves to tinker, and reload, but God damn the prices make this a hard hobby to enjoy, so I combined all my passions and built a CNC Swiss lathe in my garage from scrap over the last 5 years and have finally started being able to get it turned on in the last few weeks,

my first project was for a good friend of mine who is absolutely obsessed with the .280 Ross rifles but sold most of his collection due to ammo/bullet scarcity.

End goal is to make somthing that legitimately looks like it comes from a massive manufacturer. So criticism would be greatly appreciated as i want to make these things perfect.20260413_152331.jpg

With any luck I want to maybe sell these at my local gun shows to raise money for better equipment and revive many hard to come by bullets and other reloading equipment lost to time!

Due to the orientation of the pictures some of the bullets looks a little diffrent size then the others, I want to point out its just the ####ty phone + angle I noticed that now but when I take a pic from a diffrent angle they look "normal" lol

Once you find a profile that works, it may be cheaper and easier to contact a CNC shop for a quote on several thousand, or maybe start with 1000 to test the market.

You're in a very small niche market with the 280 Ross.

I went this route myself several decades ago, and lots of folks said they wanted the bullets, but when it came time to pay, NADA.

finish them with a light pass of a scotchbrite pad or similar to give a nice uniform surface finish. or revisit your speed/feed, stickout, tool sharpness, tool height, cut depth and rake angles but brass generally wants to smear instead of shear cleanly. light skimming passes don't get under the work hardened surface and drag hardened material through the soft brass.
using a mill file for the nub left when parting can save a bunch of time and aggravation.
