Purchased box of Hornady .284 /162 gr A-MAX moly coated bullets in a moment of weakness. Says for 1-8" twist. I shoot a Remington 788 in 7-08 and a Remington 700 7-08 with a heavy barrel (from factory). Can I use these in these rifles and if so where can I find more information.

Those rifles I believe have a 1-9.25"
I have a custom barrel with a 9" twist which was recommended to me if I wanted to use heavier bullets, so far so good, I think you will be fine.
But, only your groups will tell.
Most of the loading manuals will show what twist rate they used and the best powder for a particular bullet for accuracy.

Just use 160 gr bullet data, you should be fine. Start at the beginning load, work up. As to the accuracy, you'll find out when you try it. The twist is a little slow, but sometimes that doesn't seem to matter as much as we think it should. FWIW - dan
