.284 Win

Hi all, wondering if anyone has any experience with R17 in the .284?
I've got some Hornady 154gr RN for a Savage 99 and would like to try the R17. Not finding much on it though. Thanks in advance.

Not with the R-17 and 154.
In my 284 I use R-19 and a 139 HornadyBTSP. This combination works very well in my gun.

I have read a number of older posts from some American sights with varying degrees of success so I thought I might try it. Thanks for your input.

Sorry ,but the 99 I loaded for shot awesome with 140gr and 49gr H414 @ 2.80" OAL You must keep them short enough to fit and feed through the magazine......Harold

I tried 154gr sp bullets and from what I can remember 53-54 gr of RL17. You might want to reduce the charge a couple of grns. My rifle is a bolt action, I think you should start out with 50 grns and work from there.
