2nd Annual Summerland LR Fun Shoot APRIL 14 - 15

What a great Event!

Was there for Saturday, I must say, shooting 1000 yards + is pretty cool! :D

Thanks to Kevan for letting me shoot his 50, and burn up some black powder!! Watching a 45/70 hit clays at 500+ yards is pretty cool. :D

Thanks to LRC for forcing me to shoot his 50 :D and his 300 WM at 1 mile:D I couldnt believe how little recoil that 300WM had, my .270 with 130gr Bullets hits harder. It was neat to shoot, then find the target in the scope again just intime to see the impact and the dust cloud!!

It was run smoothly and safley by Jerry and all the people who volunteered as RO's, alot of shooting time indeed, and a range for every gun.

Rocks at 275 yds, to clays at 500 yds, rocks at 1000-1600yds.

Weather was great! All in all I am counting down the days till next years shoot!!!

Mike, so glad that you and Kevan could make it up. Hopefully, you guys can stay longer next trip.

That Sharps was a hoot to see shooting. Anyone who thinks this stuff isn't accurate can go stand by the target. Nice stuff indeed.

Another great looking BMG that I am sure will get the bugs worked out for next year.

I think everyone has found out that distance really isn't that big a deal with an accurate rifle, consistent ammo and reliable scope with LOTS of elevation.

Thanks Jerry, Nadine and I had a great time. With any luck at all she'll get the bug and I'll be building a new toy soon. :) I thought she might bite on that nice 223 that Deb was selling, thanks Deb for letting her shoot that :)

Thanks to everyone that was there for the good times and all the lead we spread around. We had an opportunity to shoot some of the bigger boomers as well, thank you all for that.

I'm looking forward to next year. Maybe there will be fewer ticks then? We went shed hunting out in the kettle valley after the shoot and found even more ticks there.

Speaking of Ticks you all missed a good one when Danger Deb tried to bail out of the truck comming down the mountain when she found a tick climbing up her leg:runaway: .....It was one of those you had to be there:D . As far as her .223 she traded it off in E-town on a Sig 226 Stainless Steel......I hope she lets me shoot it, it sure is a sweet handgun.:D

yes, we got ticks!!! Glad that no one got bit.

Fozzy, It was great to see you again and to meet Nadine. From the way she was shooting 'her' rifle, I thought she was already into it. I guess you will have one less rifle to call your own...but that is a good thing (time to build).

Give me a shout when you come up for hunting this fall. Maybe we can make a weekend hunt out of it.

As for next year, I would be happy to host another weekend given all is well with life and family. Will likely confirm early next year. I think the format and timing worked really well. The ranges offered covered what most have available for equipment. 1950m is likely the limit for many rigs.

Mid April is likely the latest that we can run it and have low traffic on a weekend. Depending on how severe the winter is, we might go for early April just after the snow melts. Weather will be cool but that also keeps others from coming up.

Will do more plinking at 1950m to see how we can get that area to show bullet impacts better.

I sense that there is interest in Extreme range shooting (beyond 1950m) however, that will not be something for the masses. Let me know how the gear development goes as this is not something that can be easily dialed in at the shoot - very specific set ups especially in scope set up.

if there are enough rifles that can make the trip, we can set aside part of one day for that. It really limits all the other shooters as we will over shoot the 'range'.

Keep posting your projects and development.

Enjoy the rest of the shooting year.

Jerry, I apologize for not thanking you sooner for the awesome Saturday !
Between re-doing my coiffure ( damn those muzzle brakes ! ) and trying to cure Bertha's aliments among other things, its been very hectic.
Mike and I had a fantastic day, and I think as much as shooting long distance, just eyeballing the other toys was a unique experience.
I must say Jerry...I'm glad we don't live in the same town , because with your knowledge and expertise combined with my flagrant disregard for the family bank account, there'd be a real problem !
Once again Jerry, a huge Thanks to you and to each and every one of the Terrific Group that came !
Heres hoping we can do it again next year !
Cheers...Kevan

Hey Fozzy, I think Nadine needs a 6.5X55 AI heavy barrelled rifle for next year!

Gang, it was a pleasure meeting all of you. My hat is off to those who travelled great distances to make it to this fantastic shoot. I really enjoyed the non-competitive atmosphere and everyone's willingness to share tips, tricks and let their toys be fondled and shot by others. This type of event is fun, informative and best of all get's CGN'ers together so they can actually put face to screen names. It would be great for all interested board members to arrange for shoots in their areas!

Again a BIG, heartfelt thank you to Jerry for making it possible to meet so many great Nutz!
