How many guys hunt the 2nd week of the shotgun season in Ontario?

Is it better then the first week or are the deer real skittish by then?

Due to work requirements this is the first time in 22 years I wont be able to hunt the first week:( and I am just wondering what its been like for other guys.
 
2nd week? you mean in Dec?? The shotgun area I hunt has one week in nov. and one in Dec. Everything for rifle has 2 weeks in Nov. I hunt only the first week in November, but did hunt my first year in the dec. hunt. Too cold by then for me.

I have found the december hunt to be much easier (usually because of snow) to hunt. The deer are herded up a bit as well.
 
It all depends on how heavily hunted you area is. Since I hunt private land (with usually 4 or 5 trespassers) the deer aren't all that spooked.
Usually, the rut is just starting by the first Thurs. or Friday, so the second week is bang on in my area. And if you are after BIG bucks the peak
of the rut is when they will be cruising looking for does in heat. Hopefully they haven't gone nocturnal from all of the pressure from the 1st week
though. That is why your success is dependent on hunting pressure. Good luck :D
 
In our area the gang has hunted the first week for 20 years, only once the second week, but the pressure in that area is really high. It seems like the only gangs left around for the second week are local and they clean up. I heard of a gang last year with 25+ guys taking out 20 or so deer, that is a lot in our area, we thought the wolves were the reason our deer population was dropping but maybe it is the 2 or 3 local gangs who hunt around us.
 
I don't hunt the December shotgun hunt, but know of some people who do... that say it is better....November hunts usually get rained out a couple of days and in December it will usually snow if anything and makes hunting deer/tracking better, thats there reasoning......

No, in my area WMU 65, we have a 2 week shotgun in Nov, then a week ML in Dec.

Thanks for the responses so far, went scouting today, not much sign yet.
 
I'm looking for an area in WMU 94B (near Windsor, Ontario) to hunt during the shotgun days of Nov. 3rd - 4th. The guy I was going to hunt with (his contact land-owner) with is heading out of town over those days and I'm left short.

Anyone have any suggestions?
