I'd like to put my bushnell tactical ar 223 on my VZ58. I'm assuming it could fit with a large enough rail (thinking of the side mount) but did anyone did it and does it work without interfering with the ejected casing?
A 40mm lens will most certainly effect the path of ejected casings.... youll have to rig up some sort of shell deflector. You will also have to keep in mind that the side mount may sit to far back, making a comfortable eye relief on the gun difficult / impossible to achieve. Be sure to buy a side mount that lets the scope sit far enough ahead.
Definitely going to need a shell deflector of some sort. In my opinion, a prismatic (read: short) optic is the best solution for these rifles. Another option is the Magwedge full length rail but the last I checked into them they had serious problems with jamming - that may have been fixed since.
Looks like once again I did not chose the easiest platform to work with.
What's the most common scope set up with them? Nothing over 4x zoom because of the need to a short optic?
