Hey CGN,

The title says it all, currently the cut off purchase date for any Swiss Arms rifle in Canada is June 30th, 2018. Any purchase after this date will not be eligible for grandfathering status, as outlined in Bill C-71. Below is a list of the final inventory of rifles and magazines available for purchase in Canada.

There is also a very limited number of other accessories that is not listed here, including Bi-pods, cheek rests, quad rails, rails, and grips. For inquiries regarding these products, please phone in at 1-888-967-4867, as we will need to confirm the availability for these parts as some of them are down to the last unit. Cheers!

This is not currently law. If it eventually passes and becomes Law, June 30th is the cut off day for Grandfathering.

If it passes... it only means the restricteds are affected by the june date.

Non restricteds are a 1 year deadline from when c71 becomes law.

So either the retailer doesn't understand the law or legal process... or is trying to drive sales based misinformation dissemination.

to be 'grandfathered' into keeping your currently non-restricted 858/Swiss Arms, you have to possess (own) it before a deadline. After that, you can't purchase it without have the then new 12.9 prohibited class on your PAL

Whichever... I originally wanted to put 12.x for him, but that opens the door (again) for him asking if he could then get other prohib rifles.

Its important as owning a swiss won't get you 858 status and owning a 858 won't get you swiss status.
