Ok i admit i stole that joke... but i had no idea what to put in the title...

Here's my new to me 1943 M1918A2 BAR (deact)
That thing is freaking heavy, our grand fathers were some strong sob's to carry such things into combat.

Now i have to watch Saving PVT Ryan all over again.

Great title. How heavy is that, and are you going to carry around the whole movie?. Looks like a fine piece of history. Thanks for showing us.

It's a 1943 New England Small Arms Corporation and it weight 16.2 pounds on the scale (wiki says it's suppose to be 19 lb, go figure)
I'm not 1/2 the man my grand father was so i will probably only hold it a few mins through the whole movie lol

There wasn't any bipod or cary handle when i bought it. I also bought the mag separately.
I'm not 100% sure but i think towards the end of WWII they didn't use any of those accessories ?
Any of you guys can recommend a good book on the M1918A2 ? Preferably one that would also include parts, specs, etc. ?

Missing bipod and carrying handle . :) that should make up the missing weight. Wouldn't beat a Bren for rate of fire and flexibility.
Grizz

The BAR was a fun gun to shoot. There was very little recoil on account of the weight and the gas system. I used to shoot my CA BAR regularly until the Liberals made them all safe queens so now its gone, maybe a DEWAT for someone else.
