Or I could sell you one for 150.00 !

I went to pick one up by the carry handle after a couple mags, it only took a blink to realize that the handle wasn't there.

...
Now i have to watch Saving PVT Ryan all over again.

Netflix has "The Longest Day" available right now.

Long movie, but well worth watching.

It was released... 1961? 1962? and some of the actors had served in the military.

Was funny to see a rather young Sean Connery lugging a Bren gun. I also remember him from "A bridge too far", another WW2 epic based on a Cornelius Ryan book.

Little know fact, the ship used in "The Longest Day" is the USS Muliphen (AKA-61) also know as "The Mighty Mule". My father was the radio man on that ship during WWII.

It is interesting to watch the movie knowing that my father operated all that radio equipment at one time.

What is the value of a BAR M1918A2 Dewat these days, may I ask?
I'm hoping to buy a WWII-era one, curious what they're price tag look like?

True story.
I was in Normandy for the 70th and had a WW2 jeep to go around in. We had rented a villa in the shore at Grand Champ for the week and besides visiting every cemetery/beach/museum and a million other things to see and take in we went looking for the Longest Day DVD which for some reason was hard to find go figure. Anyways we find one and that night throw it in the machine, grab more cidre and roll it. Comes to the scene where the Germans first see the allied flotilla heading towards them and I comment that the bunker is a dead ringer for the one at Longues-Sur-Mer only to have it pointed out it is a dead ringer because it IS the actual observation bunker. A true war classic filmed "on location".

I always find it hypocritical that people like Connery can make a fortune from the use of guns in movies yet call for them to be banned in the real world. Same for the likes of DiCaprio, Matt Damon and Alex Baldwin. Hollywood is full of lefty/liberal gun grabbers.

Been away from the internet for a while, so i'm resurrecting this tread...
Not planning on buying anything atm but thanks to all for the offers.

Nice BAR! Does it #### and click?
Unfortunately no... welded solid...
On a side note they did a great job, only a tiny weld is visible on the left side and a small discoloration on the right side.

I love all those old movies. Sure they are not historically correct, they were never meant to be... there's documentaries for that.
Just watch them and enjoy for what they are.
They are very entertaining... and if not for them i might not be collecting milsurps today.

Well without going into personal details in public i would say if you can find one for sale anywhere between $2000 and $2500 jump on it fast.
Anything below that and you got a deal.

I always find it hypocritical that people like Connery.
Yep that's Hollywood for ya.... great actor tho...

Get the bar magazine belt. There used to be a few around in surplus stores here. Two kinds were sent here.

The BAR was a fun gun to shoot. There was very little recoil on account of the weight and the gas system. I used to shoot my CA BAR regularly until the Liberals made them all safe queens so now its gone, maybe a DEWAT for someone else.

Years ago I fired one in full auto. Very controllable in short bursts. Placed all 20 rounds on a 18"X 24" steel plate at 80 yards while standing offhand. It was an early gun, Marlin if memory serves me right.
