3 Gun at PCFGA, Peace River, AB, July 27th, 2013

sounds good! other than experiance all i am lacking is the gear. anyone want to PM me with good choices for gear?

All you need to do is show up and pay your money. If you don't have enough gear or guns we can arrange loaners with advance notice.

New shooters just need to follow the SO's instructions, take their time, and pay attention to what they're doing. Speed and being able to finish at the top end come with experience.

4 of our 15 shooters were competing in their first 3 gun.

The other thing we should look into instead of trap is some of those activating targets that fire up a clay pigeon after you shoot the steel. At closer range it would put us all on a more level playing field but still introduce some moving targets for the shotguns.

i agree John, we tried to build some a few years back but couldn't nail down the design.

the biggest thing is to no get hung up being "tacticool", some guys run the chest rigs and they are fine, one of the best I have seen for 3 gun is the hsgi small AO rig with Taco Pouches... it is a 50/50 split of guys who run chest rigs and those who just run a double mag pouch for pistol and a double mag pouch for rifle all on the belt.

myself I use the belt method, kydex double ar15 pouch a kydex double pistol pouch with a maxpedition dump bag to hold some shotgun rounds.

Just want to say that this shoot was the best fun I have had with a gun in my hand. I am thanking all involved for the help and advice as I went through my first 3 gun. It was great to see a guy new to guns getting help from everyone as he went through and lending of gear as needed. My son was pumped to shoot a glock for the first time in the steel challenge and now he is going to cost me a bunch of money as he wants to enter the next 3 gun here. Thanks again to all involved. Great job.

Many thanks and appreciation to everyone who organized and officiated this match. Loads of fun, challenging course of fire, great group of guys. Tina thank you for the food, it was great. Looking forward to the next one.

That's exactly what I was hoping to hear from you. Glad you enjoyed it. Your boy shot that Glock like a champ.

Thanks, Ivan. Tina did a great job with lunch and I really appreciate her help.

I bet you guys just didn't have the correct grain product in hand to help with the thought process lol. Its amazing what you can do when rational thought is thrown away and replaced with the dull throb from the piece of steel hitting you in the head or foot or thumb etc etc. NEVER give up. I have some holidays coming maybe we can get something put together right after the dueling tree is finished. I think you are right John about practicing more steel we can't let those Peace river boys get too comfortable lol.
