Looking to start collecting parts for a new 3 gun build for next years season. I want to focus on a fairly light, fast gun. Thinking of starting with an Aero upper/lower but looking for suggestions for the rest. I would prefer to buy parts in Canada if possible. Hoping to keep it under $2k

Let me know what your thoughts/experiences are

Your build cost will vary widely depending what parts you pick. Finding good deals on the EE can help keep costs down and let you go with nicer stuff.
Trigger and barrel are the two most important things that influence the build cost.
With barrel it can cost anywhere from $200-$700 (new parts) depending what you want. Trigger is $80-$450.
I just put an ALG enhanced single stage trigger in one of my AR's and it's probably the best $77 I've ever spent. It's nickel boron coated so it should last forever and it felt great from the first pull with no break-in period.

I would pick
-A matched set upper/lower, brand is your choice but consider that most uppers are forged in on of three places then shipped out to the various companies for finishing and branding.
-A 14.5-16 inch barrel of your choice, the longer it is the more comfortable it is to shoot with a brake. Short barrels are fun but they get louder the shorter you go and 223 is a fairly high pressure cartridge which has a good concussion blast.
-Any forend you like 12-15 inch length to suit the barrel choice with continuous top rail and a couple rail sections you can move around. I bought a 12 inch AP customs carbon fiber forend for my 16 inch build and it's very light.
-223/5.56 don't kick much but a good brake can make for even quicker second shots. $60-$200ish depending what you go with.
-The best trigger you can afford
- A nice pistol grip. I like the MOE+ and the ergo rubberized one.

Keep in mind some guys are doing very well with a basic milspec trigger and a $200 NEA barrel. It's more about training with what you've got than it is about having all top notch gear.

Here's a picture of my build :)

JP brake
Factory 16 inch ACR barrel with midlength gas system (I had to open the gas port slightly to get it to function)
AP Customs carbon fiber forend
BCM verticle grip
NEA upper and lower including BCG
Daniel Defense buffer tube and LPK
ALG enhanced single stage trigger
MOE+ grip and CTR stock
Phase 5 EBR V-2
Hi-Lux CMR 1-4 in a Burris PEPR QD mount

Pretty sure this comes in below your budget. I try not to pay too much attention to the costs or it ends up being a lot of money, better to just not really know when the wife asks ;)

If you're going to spend $2000 I would buy a used ACR off the EE then down the road when you have some surplus cash get it converted to non restricted.

3 gun is an enormous money pit. Just when i finished dumping $4500 on my rifle i need a new barrel next year, new buffer spring, new gas tube, new adjustable gas block, new upper because its getting the wobble, and a new optic mount cause i bent it throwing my rifle around so much or over torquing it who knows. New mags for rifle and handgun, new mag extensions, new handgun barrel and front sight ( destroyed it basically ), and a stack of ammo. Its getting stupid expensive, nvm the travel expenses.Thankfully i dont shoot a 1911 or it would be much more. The better you get, the better the equipment has to get, its like being a drug addict and getting a higher tolerance. Last year i spent 10k on brand new gear, that got beat to crap. I also need another belt, and trigger bar and better mag puches. Ps i only went to 5 matches, i wanted to do 10. But im an addict now, and there is no turning back. I shoot in the US so its a bit more expensive but theres nothing like trying to hit 400 yard targets and your heart pounds the reticle :), and the ro yells "HIT" .By no means am i an awesome shooter, but i get better and better every time i go and i love it.
