How about a pistol-calibre rifle like a Beretta or Thureon Defence? Both are available as non-restricted and have the advantage of 10 round mags. The mag pouches from your pistol will work for the rifle.

Won't work for matches that have min power factors or shots at longer ranges

Get the latest XCR-L Keymod edition. Much lighter and better balance than the original ones from 8-10 years ago.

I use the XCR-L in .223 for coyote hunting and the 6.8 SPC for wolf and deer hunting. It carries and balances well with or without a MS4 sling.
I like it better than the AR in many practical ways.
