i was wondering if there was any place in Saskatchewan that someone can participate and practice in the discipline of 3-gun or some variation of it recreating a "tactical" shooting scenario. i live around regina but am willing to travel to participate in this sport, it looks like the most fun and competitive sport in the world to me.

Saskatoon wildlife federation and Prince Albert wildlife federation have them regularly. Spring time is when it starts up again. Also check out "Agoge Tactical Regimen" near Saskatoon for great training.

There is some info on our website for the Prince Albert Pistol & Rifle Club www.paprc.ca give the director for 3 gun a call and he should be able to put you in touch with someone in Saskatoon.

Didn't want to start a new thread, so I'll just throw this in here. New to firearms and I'm wondering if people on here know of a good gun range in Regina. I've heard of the Regina Fish and Game ranges out at Condie and also the Wildlife Federation ranges out towards Pilot Butte. Do you folks have a preference between these two or is there another one you can suggest?

My main interest right now is handguns. Thanks.

Try the Wascana Pistol Club in Regina!

Vadman, the Condie range is a waste now since they built the new protection at the benches unless you like shooting while seated. The range is also now useless if you want to use a sled to sight in a rifle or if you bench rest shoot. Looks like I am Pilot Butte bound this year.

I'm also very interstedbin 3 gun, and tactical firearms training.
So thanks for the info

Questions

Can we use vz58 rifles for 3 gun?
Does anyone run sbr's, like 7.5" ar15?
What are target distances for pistol, shotgun, rifle.

The events I have attended in Saskatchewan are really about having fun with your 3 guns so any gear is OK to use.
The shortest guns so far have been 10.'5 ar's
Distances Pistol 0 to 50 m on ipsc paper and steel like a pepper popper or plate
Shotgun 0 to 35 m on static targets, plates, and clays on the ground and air. some times slugs 0 to 50 m on paper and juice jugs for the explosive factor.
Rifle 0 to 50 m on paper, Steel gong's out from 100 to 200 m, clays 0 to 25m.
Lots of movement. Always good fun.

How do I register?
Have you done any courses with agoge tactical, can I use my 7.5" vz58.

We have a couple of tentative dates set up for multigun shoots in Saskatoon at the SWF... May 10th 2014 and Septermber 27th 2014. It will mostly consist of members of the Saskatoon Wildlife Federation Rifle and Revolver club, but we get some attendance from Regina and PA as well. If you're in Saskatoon we're usually out shooting Tuesday/Wednesday nights on the SWF indoor ranges.

As for the your rifle at Agoge, best contact them to confirm, but I can't see it being an issue.

Most (99%) bring some kind of AR-15 platform. There is a very strong close protection influence so SBR's are very popular (although not necessary). They sure help when getting out of car for fire and movement drills. The techniques are based around the fire controls on the AR platform.

Usually the equpiment restrictions are very light. Its more about gaining proficiency with what you have than steering people toward specific equipment.

Your gear should be of good quality and be able to handle a bit of bumping and moving around. You really learn how to improve placement and what to consider for gear when taking these courses.

No offense, and no intent to hijack.. But the range at Condie is far from useless. We were approved to raise those overhead plates, and three new standing stalls with backers at 15yds are going up in the spring. Useless for benchrest??? Maybe try a proper rest or a bipod that isnt 10" high. We have spare rests to lend out now too.

keeping with the thread, we are looking into CFO approval for action shooting sports. Its definitely something many members, myself included would like to see.
