Getting into 3 gun this summer, and I was curious if there are any magazine capacity limits for the rifle. Is everyone limited to 5 rounds per magazine regardless of make and model? or would the .50 Beowulf mags be an advantage in the Canadian version of 3 Gun?

I'm starting as well, the match I was at last year people were using Beowulf mags and LAR mags. I did not see anyone rocking 5 round mags. I personally use the LAR mags as I don't know if the Beowulf mags have been approved by the rcmp to be used with ars. Someone with more experience and knowledge can chime in to give their two cents.

Mag capacity rules depend on who's running the 3 gun. Where will you be shooting?

Our local 3G allows the use of any legal magazine, though filling a Beo mag full of .223 will put you in Open, as the other divisions have a 10 round mag rule.

My question to sport shooters is: What happens when you compete down in the States? Does having full mags screw up your game?

"Damn those Canadians can change magazines fast!"

it gives the US shooters an advantage unless you have US magazines to use while you are there.

The rcmp doesn't "approve" mags for use. if they are legally pinned to hold no more than 5 .50cal rounds, you can legally fit it to any gun that accepts it. Period. #deadhorse

This year we are allowing 10 round pistol mags in rifles, but limiting beowulfz to 10 rounds.
Everything else legal goes.

I personally use the AT15 mags. 10 rounds in a 20 round body. That way the spring is not at fully compression and you have more to grasp over the LAR's

Americans aren't concerned with how fast Canadians can change mags. Americans change mags between stages - remove empty or partial PMAG40 at "if finished, unload.........", insert full PMAG40 (or Surefire 60) at "make ready"
