3 gun matches

Stormbringer ran a 3-gun at EESA last spring, and Quebec apparently has a regular number, so all it takes is someone with the determination to RUN one.

Contact your provincial ipsc. 3 gun matches are typically an off shoot of IPSC. As for mag caps does not really mater everyone is stuck with 5 rounds so if you have five then you are fine. A few folks shoot pistol carbines which they can stoke with 10 RDS.

I would not worry too much about the equipement at first.

It is a lot of fun so run what you brung

my 100$ 3 gun special. The groups are at 100 yards my contribution to the honor match. An sks is good enough to keep im all in the A-zone out to 100 yards. Any missing is due to the operator. So whatever you got is good enough.

Medicine Hat has an annual 3 Gun Match at the beginning of June every year. Come down and join us, your not that far away. I'm the Match Director. Every couple of years in August Lethbridge also holds a 3 Gun Match.

I'm guessing the 5-round magazines aren't conducive.

The 5 round mag limit for semi-auto rifles is just a nuisance when it comes to shooting 3-gun or Tactical Rifle matches, and if nothing else, it teaches you to do fast mag changes/stripper clip reloads. Stages are designed to be "5-round friendly". (or not...:D)

Actually I have been running them for the past 5 years....

They used to be in the fall around Halloween. I have now moved them to the Spring to make way for the school fund raiser shoot in the fall.

EESA Spring Thing II will be running in May 07

It is a gun game in which you use three guns. Handgun, Rifle and Shotgun.

It is a dynamic game in which you shoot at targets on the move in various stages.

It is VERY fun!!

Setting up the matches however is VERY annoying!!

Our matches are "IPSC style", they entail fire and movement with multiple firearms. We generally have 5 stages per match. 3 of the stages involve the use of rifle, pistol and shotgun in each stage, 1 stage is generally shotgun only/or shotgun & pistol and 1 stage pistol only. Depending on the amount of help that I have, determines how heavy that I go into props.

Been there done that.. many times, and will continue to do so...
They're a lot of work to run, but we usually have a good time anyway.
For real 3-gun fun I like heading to michigan... Not a 5 round AR mag in sight!

The matches we do here are fun too, but there's something nice about a 27round COF with no mag change:)

Is it transitions, or three different stages, using pistol/rifle/shotgun ???

If the match follows IPSC rules...there are no transitions...

Some clubs put on Tactical Style 3 guns where transitions are included. CGN members Pops and Reaper have put them on and can provide additional details

Please give dates as I would like to atttend.

You have different divisions?

I post all matches for Medicine Hat under "Events and Gatherings" a minimum of 6 weeks prior to the match. That way everyone has lots of planning & prep time.
