Hi everyone

I am just getting started in 3-gun and until this point have been borrowing other peoples equipemnt.

I just bought a Stag Arms model 2R with 16" barrel and have been looking into getting either an ACOG or a EOtech 552 or 553 with and magnifier. Which setup would be better? Which model of ACOG should I look in to? Should I go with a completely different setup?

All feedback is appreciated.

besides the magnifier that flips out of the way there is always the option of a scope on top and a red dot/iron sites canted to the side (no idea how well it works, but i think it looks cool)

I've found that given the max. range you find at most 3-gun matches magnification isn't necessary.

I use an EoTech and find it perfect for 3-gun.

Of course real men use irons...;)

I currently use an Eotech which is acceptable, but I miss the option of magnification. I have used an ACOG with a Doc Optic co-mounted on it in the past. I'm still kicking myself for getting rid of it.......it was far more versatile than the Eotech....

I use an Eotech on my new Stag 3R. Think it was model 512 ( uses AA batteries ) . You might need a riser under the optic to clear the irons. Got my optic from Questar.

Unless you have a continuous rail, you're not going to be able to fit the 553, magnifier and BUIS all on the upper receiver. The 553 takes a lot more room than you would think.

The 553 is just different because it is mounted with Arms levers, so you have one near the back, and one near the front, which is why you would have to lock the front arm on the foregrip, and rear on the upper.

Yes, I have changed the handguard and have the continuous top rail now.

Thanks for all the input!
