What pistols are people running? I have a shadow that I use for ISPC. I am thinking of a glock 34 with a trigger job just for 3 gun, as well as a 1911 in 9mm or a 2011. No big deal if I can't go over 10 rounds of 9mm in Canada. The 1911 has caught my attention because it's cheaper than a 2011. I saw a tuned norinco 9mm 1911 for $500, tempting... But I'd rather buy once cry once, so a 2011 would be great, especially if I am states-bound; but someone has to lend me the $$$$$$. Glock 34 looks great, striker action, can just toss into barrels and be safe.

I am a little put off with a da/sa trigger, and would rather just have one pull weight. Be it the 3 or 4 lbs that I can get the glock to, or the 2lbs a 1911 (or 2011) can go to. That said, urban legends on the 1911/2011 and it's lack of reliability, well, the need to tinker, puts me off some.

Thoughts? What do you run?

No reason you can't run 3 gun with your Shadow. Lots of guys do. You don't have to worry about difference in trigger pull as you can start with the hammer back. Start with that, practice, run a few matches and then decide whether or not you want to change.

The only advice I will give here is to not base your decision on whether or not the gun has an external safety.

Ive used a glock 34 and now use a stock 3 and can say it is a total non issue

I use a CZ TS 9mm. It has an awesome trigger and is SA only so always the same awesome ~ 2lb super short pull. I have my backup gun for sale in the EE right now. Basically you get all the benefits of a 2011 but at about 1/3 the price of a 2011. And if you go to the States you get to use factory TS mags, which hold more than factory or aftermarket Shadow mags.

The Shadow should be good to go for 3 gun. The DA/SA pull can be trained around if you don't want to go cocked/locked. Regular dry fire practice over a few weeks can get you used to the DA first pull (also useful for IPSC). This way, unless you are changing your IPSC pistol, you get improved DA in IPSC as well. I'm planning to do 3gun this year as well and will be using my Shadow - after a few weeks the DA was no longer a serious issue for me. My draw, reloads, target acquisition and shooting past 15 are my only remaining issues :)

Thanks for the advice! I've ran shadows for two years now and the DA pull is just one more thing to think about. I'll give cocked and locked a try. Some people say striker fired's are easier in that you just chuck em into the barrel. No worries about safeties and etc. And I don't feel bad beating on a glock as they are kind of ugly anyway lol.

The cz ts or the tanfgolio extreme custom look awesome. But, I have a hard time ponying up dough for the hammer when lots of nails would really improve my game.

And those sti's look awesome. I almost bought a marauder last year, when the dollar was better.

Another low-cost way to speed up the 3-gun game is to buy a magwell for the Shadow. Easily removeable if you want to switch back to IPSC Production, but assists in games with less proscriptive rules.

People do say that about striker guns. But they haven't seen what eventually happens when you go down the path of chucking handguns into dump buckets. Hint: it cost Patrick Kelley thousands of dollars.

1riot, proscriptive is not a word.

I give up. What happened?

It bounced, spun around and pointed uprange. Match DQ. Cost him at least the prize money of an earlier stage win at Trijicon 2015, $2000, plus he was in position for a very high finish.

Please excuse my ignorance on three gun...but what is the "proper" steps to complete before putting in the dump bucket. Is it safety on only or remove mag and chamber open or what?
