3 Gun Questions

theres 2 types of competitive shooters, ones that have been dq'd and others that will be. Sooner or later mistakes happen when you push hard or forget something. Ive seen master class guys get a dq, ive got a dq by mistaking a pre set up table, so its not unusual. Last 3 gun i went to 3 guys got dq'd, experienced guys at that.

there is alot of dq videos by professionals on youtube to learn from.

Regarding this vid, I'm not sure what the range layout was or where true 90's lay but I would
have stopped the shooter at 0:55. Yes he's shooting at what looks like 90 to the RO but watch
the reload. He's pointing back towards the camera person. The over the berm shot in my opinion
was offense #2 for this shooter.

As for the topic at hand, DQ's happen, it's a fact of life. Strive to not get DQ'd. Some of us are
lucky? proficient enough? to not have been DQ'd yet. ;-)

Its come to my attention that when a certain group of people don not like a statement presented, either because of ignorance or a blind 1 sided way to look at things, a pack mentality seems to take place. The videos posted are not to support my argument but to better inform the original thread starter on the effects of not knowing the rules, and the learning curve implicated. User 7.62 mm took offense to my statement, turned it into a personal attack upon himself when the statement did not have that intent. User 7.62mm became irate, posting several posts indicating his disagreement, posting multiple times instead of editing his original post and adding more information. This caused me to believe that he may have anger issues, thus my question regarding his meds. I would have posted all the videos on 1 post but this forum only allows me 2 videos per post.

No irate here....and to be fair, I didn't take offence...it is actually pretty hard to offend me. It is to bad that you thick I took offence because I didn't edit my original posts...unlike others, I let stand what I have written, and don't edit posts. It is nice that you attacked me personally...with your "Meds" comment...doesn't bother me one bit. Good luck with your career of "getting DQ'd once in a while". Please steer clear of any squad that I am on.

here you go with some more personal attacks. " career of getting dq'd " " steer clear of any squad that im on ". i will reply back with a prescription of antipsychotic meds twice a day, and some adivan 3 times daily, with a suicide help number in Ontario 1-866-797-0000

Wow Dude. I think maybe you need to quit being so sensitive. Not everyone is out to get you. The original OP asked some valid questions about starting 3 gun. I am sure by now you have scared him away. Good job!

that was not my intention as i stated in my previous post. My intent was to encourage him to keep 3 gunning regardless if he got a dq or not. Tomo, i see that you are jumping into the wolf pack attack as well with comments like," i think maybe you need to quit being so sensitive ". Theres 4 of you picking apart my statements, making negative comments on a subject that can be interpreted in more then 1 way, yet you 4 have decided to interpret it negatively and taken it personally.

Thats awesome, i also thought i would never dq either, but ive sadly gone down that road. Its an eye opener for sure, but i will agree that striving to not get dq is a good thing. Happy shooting.

Wolf pack lol

I'd say the camera guy should be paying closer attention to where he's standing and GTFO of the way.

...User 7.62mm became irate.

you mean like this?

Ran a match at our club today. It appears that everyone actually had fun. And wait a minute... let me think... not one single DQ!
Hmmm... I guess the competitors weren't pushing hard enough. Especially those going to Italy for the World Shoot.

Settle down wolfie!

So what happens when you get DQ'd. Does the RO stop you right then or do you finish the stage?. Action shooting is new to me. Thanks in advance for your help.

Like armycat said, usually it is immediate. Sometimes, if the match rules dictate the condition of the firearm that is dumped and those conditions are not met, the DQ can happen after the stage is complete. And as others have mentioned in previous threads, sometimes it is a stage DQ meaning you can continue the match or sometimes it is a match DQ in which you are done shooting for the day.

In every match I've shot in SW Ontario, a DQ is a match DQ and as such, you don't get to shoot anymore and your scores for all completed stages are forefeited. It is painful to witness and I'm sure even more painful to experience. However, it is part of the game and we're not bowling out there.

In the immortal words of The Stranger, "Sometimes you eat the bear, and sometimes the bear....well he eats you."
