3 gun rifle suggestions?

Buy something you are willing to throw into a barrel... Ar is pretty standard, anything that runs will get you from A to B. You are only as good as your training. No daniel defense will make you shoot better than a GM shooting a norinco.

I would love to run 3 gun with a T-97 or an SL-8, and you could, you just wouldn't necessarily be competitive. There is one guy that runs an 858 at the 3 gun that I used to attend. The AR-15 is chosen for a reason. It tends to combine all of the best features that are required for 3 gun. Ergonomics that you can alter to fit you personally. Rapid mag change capability. Accuracy. Easily mounted and changed optics. Magazine availability: and the fact that you can easily get LAR mags or even Beowulf if you can find them and the competition allows them. Barrel length options from 7.5" to 20". No other platform combines all of these

As far as AR's go. I started out with a Norinco. Actually I still run a Norinco, but as time has gone on I have upgraded/modified it to fit me personally. Free-float handguard, low-profile gas block, JP enterprises silent capture buffer, Nickel-Boron BCG, Ergo stock, Magpul MIAD grip, etc, etc, etc. It's the one other thing about the AR's. You don't have to break the bank. You can buy a basic model that will do the job. Then as time/money is available you can literally rebuild it one part at a time until you have exactly what you want-a one of a kind custom rifle.

Stag 3g. Well, it used to cost less (usd) to buy the 3g than it did to build the same ar. Any ar type rifle that can be free floated and trigger jobbed.

You'll find that 99% of rifles in 3gun will be an ar-15. Not to say you can't use something else, but they're very versatile and customize-able. I suggest something less expensive, then you can upgrade bits as you find out what you like and what you don't.

Here's my build. Not everyone's taste, but it's what I like and that's the important part.

DMPS Oracle was the base rifle....

Troy free float rail and low pro gas block
MFT Minimalist butt stock
Ergo grip pistol grip
Battle arms ambi safety
Battle Arms extended mag release
Phase 5 ambi bolt release
Random eBay cheap muzzle brake that works amazing.
Rainer arms extended charging handle
Giessele SSA trigger
Vortex strike eagle 1-6x

The S&W mp15 sport is good for starting cheaper and building. At least the one I have, has solid lower and upper fitting. Buy cheap and build can cost more in the long run. And you'll have a bucket of used parts.

Another vote for the Stag 3G.

Out of the box it is a solid 3gun gun. (I just didn't like the brake on it, impulsed down a bit)

Plus 2 you always end up throwing the gun in a barrel. Also I tried it with a tavor getting my precious in and out of the barrel burns time. A norinco cqa you could just fling it in there and not worry about a scratch.

I am very tempted to buy a modern varminter. It would be bad news for the gophers of southern alberta.

If I go ahead, there'll be a stag 3g for sale in the EE
