I have the Sightron 1-7, it is just the dot.
It is great for 300 yards and closer targets....the dot gets a little big on targets past that, and there are no hold overs for anything past 300y.
I haven't physically looked through the new reticule yet, but it looks a bit busy from the pics that I have seen.
Fantastic glass for the price, and it is in your price range, when buying scopes in Canada!
I see you are on my Squad for EESA this weekend, I can bring my AR so you can have a look if you want.

I just went through this and my choice was the Leupold 1-6 with capped turrets for about $1200. That is, until I found out that Sightmark makes a 1-6 and it only costs $300. So I bought the Sightmark, and haven't shot it yet but I think it is going to do a great job. Vortex's 1-6 is way more money than the Leupold.

Been using a vortex 1-4 for the last couple years, great optic for the price and can take a beating.
Yesterday dropped the coin for the 1-6 vortex HD, used it in the range and the glass transmits the light incredibly and a nice small dot when lit. Not sure if it's really worth the extra coin over the 1-4 but time will tell.

I went with a Trijicon TR24G. I found it had the best glass going, distortion free, super clear great light gathering, fiber optic and Tritium, just under $1000 a couple of years ago from P&D Enterprises. I wanted something that could take whatever "abuse" I might run into, but with a solid reputation for reliability under really bad conditions, so Trijicon was the winner. I'm a believer in spending on optics, it minimizes the chance of failures over budget optics, which have a higher failure rate.
I bought a Leupold VX2 1-4. It works great. The mark 4 MR/T would fit your needs based on what you described. The thing about a Leupold is they have a Canadian warranty center. I had a Sightmark red dot that I needed warranty work done on and it was about six months to get it back. At least with Leupold I can send it to Okotoks and get it back without having to deal with export permits and etc. I believe Bushnell still has a Canadian warranty center. I am not sure about Vortex. Food for thought.
