I like empty starts. Instead of waiting on those that are bad at loading to load slowly off the clock, with an empty start their slow loading at least shows up on the score card.

Its not like we are talking about having people start the stage bare A$$ in bed under the covers and have to get dressed and gear up on the clock or anything.

Personally, as silly as it sounds, if people want to be die-hards about the practical side of the practical shooting sports, there should be a pajama's match.
I think it would be fun and hilarious. And a serious gut check for the home defense crowd.

Ummm that’s what pre-load tables are for.

I’m not a fan of empty starts but I wouldn’t go as far as calling them stupid. I remember a fantastic stage at Oxford whereby each shooter started empty and with all of their shells in a bucket hanging from a rope! After I finished the stage the RO (Chalk) was kind enough to inform me that 7.62mm had completed the entire stage in the same amount of time as it took me just to load!

we;ve had stages like that in USPSA, but your fully clothed laying on your back. get up grab the gun, (dont gotta load, lol USA ftw) and start shooting, mags were placed around the shooting area. Quite interesting stage... Wouldnt want to have to do that in my own home lol.
